Your body is being worked harder, therefore uses more oxygen, water, and food.

So you breath harder to get in that extra needed oxygen.

The more you run however and gain endurance then slower breathing will be possible, this is known as being "conditioned".

When you run or whatever exersice youre doing

you hold your breath and you dont relize it.

Its human nature you cannot stop yourself from doing that often.

And also your heart is pumping alot of blood and you only take in little air.

dont think that the heart pumping alot of blood is always bad!

You breathe more heavily during strenuous physical activity to supply your body's muscles and tissues with more oxygen. Oxygen is necessary for your cells to function, and because exercise uses up energy you need to get more oxygen to replenish the lost energy. The body does this by increasing the rate of breathing, and thereby increasing your intake of oxygen.

You breathe faster after running or carrying out heavy exercise because your muscles are burning a lot of energy, and they need oxygen to do that. It's sort of like a machine, you need to put gas in your car, and when you put the pedal down the engine revs up, but it also draws in more air to burn the fuel.

This is because your body is trying to get oxygen into your body faster so that the parts involved in the exercise can function
