It symbolizes the victory of good over evil and marks the triumph of the goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. Dasain may be the alternative spelling Dashain, the greatest festival of Gorkhali Hindu people who live in the hills of Nepal, Sikkim and Darjeeling of India and other parts of the world.
