This is an individual thing and not a medical thing. There is no direct reason you would get cold after drinking milk. If you have an allergy to milk, that could be one sign.
A child of this age should really be drinking full fat cow's milk, warm or cold.
There is a story in history regarding the death of Zachary Taylor - he died after drinking ice-cold milk and eating cherries on a very hot day, and they thought that he died from an inflamed stomach as a result of the really cold milk on a really hot day. I am relatively certain the idea that drinking cold milk on a hot day will kill you stems from this story. They autopsied Taylor's body and found that he actually died of heat stroke. There is nothing to suggest that cold milk on a hot day is in any way dangerous or detrimental to your health.

Soy milk is a good substitute for milk however it does not contain any dairy products. Although soy products are a good replacement for milk, drinking a big glass of soy milk can be yucky if you are used to cow's milk. Switch to the organic milk brands.
