A car engine runs by burning gasoline. It is essentially a controlled explosion. Loose wires, high heat and sparks can set gasoline vapors on fire.

Gas stations are full of gasoline fumes and the danger is very real. Just go to YouTube and check out the 'gas station explosion' and 'gas station fire' videos.

It is because you are leaving your car running while pumping gas into it, if you didn't notice how everyone else at the gas station turns their car off, you should, it is dangerous to do so and you should discontinue no matter what car it is you are fueling or whether it is acting right or not about it. their is a chance you could blow your car up, and the gas station along with it...
