People, rich or poor, like their priests and often like to thank them for the hard work they do and invite them out for lunch or dinner.

I took a visiting priest from Africa on a day tour of San Francisco. I paid for everything, not because I am rich (at the time I was unemployed); but, to thank him for the wonderful impact he had on my spiritual life while he was here!

Some members of my family criticized me for the WASTE OF MONEY!

I was happy to do it and we had a good time!

Therefore, you do not see priests with only rich people.

However, I do suspect it would depend on where your parish is in a city - an East End or West End kinda thing.

What group's bodies were mummified in ancient Egypt?

Both poor and rich were mummified because if they were not then their bodies would rot. However, when they buried possessions with the body, rich people normally had shabtis to serve them in the afterlife. The rich also had better items than the poor people. Poor people were just wrapped in linen and buried. The rich would have tombs and coffins and priests would recite spells so that evil would not harm the rich on the way to their after-life. Only people who could afford this process would go through the mummification process. : )

Is wearing a scarf a must thing to do a Catholic church?

No, the scarf (Really called a stole) that the priest and deacon wears is a symbol. Long ago, the stole was for rich people and peopel of high class, the priests were elevated to a high class and so were given the stole, that is why we have them. But you don't need a scarf for mass.

Were priests respected in the Middle Ages?

Yes, priests were respected during the middel age. the church, controlled by the priests were a stablizing center during the time when the government was weak. the priests were also given gifts and money for the fogiveness for the sin they sold INDEPENDENT ANSWER Amongst true Catholics they where respected, umoungst other faiths they where hated. This was a time of the Inqisitions and many priests used this to extract money from rich merchants and lords. It was also used to establish there authority over the people and created fear across all nations. Most historians now agree that most people where innocent of the heresy charges against them. So yes, they where respected, not because they where "good" people, but because of the hold they had over the life and death of people in those times.
