Will engine smoke if modulator valve is broke engine only smokes at idle. no lost power or compression.white smoke meaning oil.?

white smoke does not always mean oil. Where is the smoke coming from. Sometimes small pin holes in the water system can cause a white smoke or steam which appears to be smoke. If the engine is at idle that would be the only time you could see that type of hole until it gets bigger. Check for any loss of water/antifreeze in the vehicle.

What causes diesel engine to have white smoke at idle it smells like diesel?

Some motors at idle are unable to burn the entire fuel charge because the combustion temperature is insufficient at that regime, what you see as white smoke is indeed raw fuel, it is detrimental for any engine to idle too much for the same reason I mentioned, because part of the unburnt fuel dilutes the oil and can cause lubrication problems in the cylinder liners and damage them as well as other parts that rely on lubrication.

What are those white stripes or smoke that you see during a nuclear explosion?

The columns of white smoke seen in films of nuclear tests are smoke trails left by small rockets. These devices were used to measure the size (that is the height and diameter) of the explosion. The smoke columns provided scale and then the size of the fireball could be calculated mathematically.

How do you tell if you have a cracked cylinder head?

The first sign you will see is excessive white smoke coming out of your tailpipe (in the winter you will see some white smoke, but that is normal). The second sign is that you will notice low antifreeze. This is caused by the coolant being burned in the combustion chamber (causing the white smoke). If you do not see these two signs, then take it to your local auto mechanic and have him check it out further. Why does your Toyota MR2 burn white smoke?

White smoke occurs when there is moisture evaporating from the exhaust system from sitting overnight or in cold weather. Your car may also emit white smoke if there is a head gasket leak and the car is burning coolant. In this case, you will need to see a technician immediately.
