All organisms need CARBON in order to make their bodies, CARBON is the main componenet of clucose, proteins and lipids, so plants use CARBON to make their food and other organisms eat plants, therefor CARBON gets locked up in their tissues. CARBON needs to get back into the CYCLE to complete it, and that's why CARBON CYCLE is so important. without it, plants would eventually use up all the CARBON dound in the nature and when eaten by animals, the carbon would stay in their bodies and in the soil forever, which is NOT good. o.kz

Very different! Carbon worlds have more carbon than oxygen so the entire chemistry would be vastly altered. They are possible but have not been detected yet. As far as looks, if it is carbon based it might look darker and grayer , but the exact chemistry would have to be worked out for the environment to see what would replace bone, skin, etc. I am assuming a world with a similar sun to Earth, same gravity, tilt, and large moon. There may be all sorts of exotic carbon compounds that are brightly colored too.

Carbon usually forms four single bonds in its compounds. Of course, if multiple bonds are present, then the number is different. In the case of multiple bonds, carbon forms two double bonds or a triple bond and one single bond.
