HIV isn't really what makes you feel sick per say. I'm no immunologist but my basic understanding of the disease is that HIV destroys your T cells which mark intruding viruses and bacteria so that your white blood cells can destroy them. It's a corney way of thinking about it but the best way to undertstand it is that diseases are like robbers, your white blood cells are like cops and your T cells hold all the arrest warrants. Well if all the T cell get turned into the HIV virus soon there's no one to hand out the warrants and the robbers can run free.
People from HIV generally die from a bad cold simply because their bodies don't have the immune system to fight it off.
