Best Answer

Languages change over time, at different rates, even though they are passed down correctly from one generation to another. Japanese has undergone only minor changes over the centuries, while even English texts from the 16th Century, like Shakespeare, can be a challenge for modern English speakers. Languages change primarily through evolution in pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. Rapid shifts are possible during periods of social or political upheaval. Other causes of rapid language change are migration and foreign invasions. New technologies rapidly introduce new words, like the computer-related words "crash," "bug," "email" and others. Local languages often change rapidly or die out entirely, due to the smaller number of speakers.
