You would think that since there aren't as many hands needed to separate cotton, there would be a decrease in slavery. However, plantation owners only grew more cotton which needed more slaves to pick, then needed even more slaves to operate the cotton gin. In fact, after the invention of the cotton gin, slavery soon quadrupled.
In the Southern States, slaves did almost all of the work. The Southern states relied heavily on cotton and they had slaves do the work. Slaves would pick cotton which isn't very pleasant, and before the Cotton Gin, slaves had to seperate the cotton fibers from their seeds.
the Southern planters thought that slavery shouldn't be ended for they needed the slaves for their crops
I think that the car would be the most best invention!
Most of the Northern population believed that on moral and religious grounds, slavery was an evil institution. The Northern economy was not based on slavery, although the cotton from the South was produced by the labor of slaves.

Because farmers needed slaves to pick cotton, Dumb a$$, did you mean Framers?
Made it easier to harvest cotton by separating the seeds I think, which was done by hand by the slaves and it increased production and lessened the need for slaves.
The Cotton Gin... It was intended to help the South produce cotton, it really helped the spread of slavery. :(
the slaves had to work in the cotton fields
Owners started to buy more slaves and even more cotton was picked. I think it was because a guy invented the cotton picker the think that takes out seeds. does this satisfy u

The slavery had stopped because they were not good and that they had to get rid of the slaves. So they decided to sell the slaves for all sorts of things. They even sold them for the cotton and money. think how luck they must have been with all of thoose things. the slaves were not needed anymore because they were useless and that they did not want to have any of the slaves any more. All of them were really useless and were not that good. :) Now do you know why the slavery ws stopped. :} Hope you have learned some thing that was really usefull :]
