Children live by the example that their parents set. If their parents engage in bad behavior, their children will think this is how they are supposed to act.

Yes, children will generally live up to, or down to, their parents expectations. If parents think they have genius children, their children will probably end up being very smart. If parents think they have dumb children, the children might turn out to be not as bright as other children.

My opinion on the matter is that parents shouldn't be abusing their children anyway, but i think that parents that are drunks or druggies abuse their children more than a parent who is stressed or depressed.
Some parents ignore diet completely other parents think it is a basic and integral part of their children's health.

Children do not think about their parents as adults think about other people. Most children (unless grossly mistreated by one or both parents over a long period of time) simply love their parents. The child would do anything to please their parents and get praise from them.
