Your Gums may hurt do to gum irritation, infection of any of your teeth or even just from brushing them too hard...all these things can lead to really bad infections which can cause swelling in your jaw line.
There could be many reasons for this;
Mouth Ulcer.
A mouth ulcer is a blister like sore inside the mouth that can be very painful and grow very large. Some reason they develop are :
Pyschical or chemical trauma (eg:being 'run down' or stressed)
Infection from microorganisms
Medical conditions or medications
Can be medicated using a cream from the chemist or rinsing your mouth frequently with luke warm water mixed with salt.
Poor Oral Hygiene
Recommended high oral hygiene includes brushing twice a day (morning and night), flossing your teeth (at least twice a week depending if you have bleeding gums) and using (preferably) a non-alcohol based mouth rinse.
Your dentist will know exactly why if you went and saw him/her.
Perhaps you have had a high intake of salt that can also cause the tissue inside the mouth to shrivel and highly sensitive. This causes de-hydration also. So be sure to try keeping very good oral hygiene and drink lots of fluids.
Because you've eaten something hard or a tooth is coming in through your gums
Yes, baby teeth can hurt, and most of the time will hurt. The reason they hurt is because you are exposing tender gums and you are ripping roots out of the gums.
