Why do your parking lights intermittantly work on your 2004 jeep grand Cherokee?

Although it appeard to be a bad headlight / dimmer / blinker switch as they would work most of the time and you could hear the relay clicking it was the relay that was defective. It is in a block of relays hidden behind the steering column and below the dash.
