There is a second light switch that activates the parking lights without the key being on. It is on top of the steering column behind the steering wheel. If this switch is turned off and the lights remain on when the key is off, there is a malfunction in this circuit.
Brake lights? Check brake light switch for adjustment or replacement

The heated mirrors on my 1999 Subaru Forester are controlled by the rear window defogger switch which is located in the dashboard console above the heater controls and to the right of the hazard flasher switch. I'm not sure whether the heated mirrors were optional on the early Foresters or not. Anyway, the heated mirrors (and the rear window defogger) will stay on for about 15 minutes when you press the switch. You can turn them off before then if everything has defogged already. Also, the switch only works with the ignition on.
Probably a faulty on-off switch in the door jamb, or a misaligned door which fails to close the connection.
According to the owners Manual, this is an indication of an alternator failure.
there is a sensor behind the brake pedal that is probably no good, im sure its a dealer only part, check a junk yard before you get soaked Also check to make sure your emergency brake is all the way off And check your brake fluid is filled up,
1. Alternator charging system malfunction.. [not charging enough]
Subaru uses a red parking light button on top of the steering wheel column - it acts as an on-off toggle so the driver can activate the parking lights (instead of hazards) to allow other drivers to see the car in the dark.
The knock sensor is a common issue, either it is loose or past its prime. very easy to fix. Part is $75-$80. Remove the airbox assembly & disconnect hoses. It is right below the throttle assembly. 12 mm bolt & connector. Be sure to disconnect the ground on the battery before you start.
Check Brake fluid level in master cylinder and make sure Emergency brake is fully released
No, not unless you got some bad fuel with moisture in it.
