Why does 01 Ford Taurus idles low and wants to cut off at a full stop and in park?

There are number of reasons this is happening. The car could be in Need of a Good Tune Up. You could have bad gas, dirty Fuel Injectors or trash starting to clog the Fuel Filter. Your O-2 Sensors could be bad or you could even have a hole in your exhaust system (you'd probably hear that though). It's hard just to guess at the problem without being able to see, drive or hear the car.

I'd start with the simplest solutions first. I would try some Injector Cleaner with Water Remover in the Gas Tank. If this doesn't solve the problem, I would then do a tune up or have it done.

If you are not familiar with doing a Tune Up. Wait until the Engine is cool to the touch before you start doing the Tune Up.
Take your time and ONLY Remove 1 Spark Wire and Spark Plug at a time. (VERY IMPORTANT) Also, it will take more time than you might think. You have to be patient (also VERY IMPORTANT). Allow yourself a good amount of Time.

The Tune Up will consist of Removing and Replacing the Old Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, Rotor Button and Distributor Cap (if equipped), PCV Valve, Air Filter and Fuel Filter. This is your Basic Tune Up.

If you're still having a problem I'd go to the Local Auto Parts Store and have them do an Engine Check. I live in Richmond, VA and the Local Advance Auto Parts and Autozone Parts Stores do this for Free.
