When the key is turned off and the engine continues to run normally it is probably an electrical problem like a bad ignition switch. However, if the engine is "dieseling" and the ignition is really off, then the problem may be a buildup of carbon deposits on the tops of the pistons and the head and spark plugs. You might try cleaning or replacing the spark plugs, then use a higher octane gasoline. But to simply stop the dieseling just turn off the ignition with the transmission in 'drive', then shift to 'park' after the engine has stopped turning over.
The timing is too far advanced. Take it to a shop and find out why the timing is so far above top dead center.
My 1995 Ford Explorer has also done that occasionally ( although I have removed the ignition key as soon as I open the drivers door , the key in ignition chime starts " going " ) What I do is put the ignition key back in and then remove it again and the chime will stop Give that a try
There are noises and lights that tell a driver there is something wrong with a car. The chiming when the door is shut and the key is removed, usually indicates that a light may be on.
If it is a factory alarm then shut all the doors, and use the key to lock and unlock all the doors.
I have a 05 Envoy XL Denali, and yes the radio will shut off when you open the door after the key is removed
It could be a carbeuration or timing problem. A tune up should clear up the problem.
Nope. Ignition well not work. The key you need is just a simple looking round key. In other words a 1995 Town Car has two keys one for the ignition, and door locks. And the second key is for the glove box and trunk.
the car alarm will allow the car to start and run briefly then "shut down".
The key assembly will need to be removed and the ignition lock will require replacement. It is a difficult task and might best be left to a professional.
The lock cylinder needs to be replaced. See "Related Questions" below for more details on the procedure
If your anti - theft system is sounding (horn honking/lights flashing) you can shut it off by pressing the panic button on your key fob.

The auto lock feature cannot be disabled. However, the dealer can re-program it to unlock all doors after the key is removed.
