This sounds confusing but perhaps the other programs you are referring to are 'broken'. If you can access the internet on Firefox, you should be able to access the internet on all internet-based programs (especially other internet browsers such as Internet Explorer or Google Chrome). Perhaps you need to reinstall (i.e. uninstall and then install again) the programs which are not working.
