France doesn't actually have more MW than the US, but it has a higher percentage of its total electricity output. Thus France relies on about 75 percent nuclear and the US 19 percent, but the US economy is much bigger and its total electricity supply is correspondingly much bigger. I don't have all the figures but the US has 104 operating reactors and France has about 50
Both. In 2007, France's power generation was 78% nuclear. At the same time, the US generation was only 19% nuclear. Japan's was 28% nuclear. Brazil's was only 3%. These numbers are from the Int'l Atomic Energy Assoc.
Approximately 6% of the world's energy comes from nuclear power, with about 14% of the world's electricity coming from nuclear power. The US, France, and Japan, combined, account for about 50% of the world's use of nuclear power for the generation of electricity. For more information, please see the Related Link below.
Number of nuclear weapons by country: Country # of nuclear weapons USA 10'300 Russia 16'000 China 410 France 350
No, France has much more nuclear capacity, as well as a much larger total electricity demand. Romania - 2 reactors, Candu type, 1,310 MWe output France - 59 reactors, PWR type, 63,000 MWe output
The following countries get more than half their electricity from nuclear power: France - 76.2% Slovakia - 56.4% Belgium - 53.8% The Ukraine comes close to half, with 47.4%.
There are about 5 in the state of Florida alone - France is powered 100% by Nuclear power. It is more a question of what country/state you want that information for. http://www.nucleartourist.com/basics/location.htm from http://www.nucleartourist.com/
i think nuclear power is awesome
That depends on the community. Most of France, for example, welcomes nuclear energy and that country gets about 80% of their electricity from nuclear. New York city, on the other hand, fears and despises the Indian Point nuclear power station even though they use the power and look for more.
Nuclear energy makes up 80% of France's energy intake. The USA has over 100 power plants and many countries are building more nuclear power plants (like India and China.) Poland is starting on Nuclear energy in 2020.
I would say the USA as it has more operating power reactors than any other country, but France is also well up there with a greater proportion of electrical power being nuclear, it is though a much smaller country and industrial economy
Build more nuclear plants
France produces about 80% of its electricity by nuclear plants, but this is an exception in Europe, most countries with nuclear plants have about 20%, as in the USA. Not sure about Japan, but nuclear appeals there I think because they have little fossil fuels in the country. See www.world-nuclear.org for a more detailed survey.
