If you have just defrost and a fan setting of high, it is the small diameter vacum hose that runs from the drivers side of the throttle body to the "T" near the passenger fender. athis small hose gets very brittle ..
I have a 2004 Ford Explorer and the heat does not work, but when i try to turn the control valve to heat it makes a clicking noise. How do i fix it?

Generally, the cause is a thermostat that is stuck open. A good way to test is to turn the heater control to off for a few minutes, then turn on and see if you have heat. If you do, you need a new thermostat.
Change the thermostat. If that doesn't do it, something is blocking the flow through the heater core located in your dash or firewall. Same goes if it has rear heat, probably heater core. My wife once accidentally turned on the ac during the winter, so check your settings on the heater control where you turn on the heat or turn up the fan.
What heat r u referring to, is it the seat heater. If it is, turn off the seat heater
It all depend if it is vacuum operated or electrical. If it is vacuum check the vacuum line attached to the intake manifold, it might have come loose. If its electrical check the heater control panel.
Check the following....... 1. Bad a/c - heater controller... 2. Bad a/c - heater control doors... 3. Bad, cracked or broken vacuum lines...
Check the blend door motor/mechanics or heater control head
No heat when you turn it on in the car.
it warms the air particles... witch then transfer the heat to you
Of course, set the heater/air conditioner temperature control to cold.
