Shifting of tetonic plates
Because japan lies on the ring of fire. The ring of fire is an area surrounding the Pacific Ocean where crust often shifts.
Because Japan is on the edge of tectonc plates that every so often slip which causes the earthquake. It is worst for Japan because they are on the edge of the plates.
This is because Japan lies very close to a tectonic plate boundary. It is also in the 'Ring of Fire' area, which is an area stretching from New Zealand over and down to Peru and Chile. These areas are more likely to get earthquakes as they are close to Plate boundaries.
Yes, because Japan is in a place called: "The Ring of Fire" which has a lot of tectonic plates moving and slipping.
