Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that in order to enter the highest levels of heaven, you must be 'sealed'. It is believed that you will remain with the person you are 'sealed' to for eternity in heaven, for that reason 'sealings' are performed between married couples and their children. Mormons believe that these sealings link the entire family of God in a sort of chain, from Adam and Eve to the present day. Each person sealed is a link in the chain of the family of God.
Mormons also perform sealing ceremonies on behalf of those who died without being sealed. It is believed that if the deceased person chooses to accept this sealing, they will also be linked to the family of God and be eligible to enter the highest levels of heaven.

Yes. Mormons believe that when a man and a woman are married in the temple, they are sealed together along with their future children for all eternity, even after they pass on(of course, if they get divorced, then they aren't sealed together anymore). If a couple was married in a church and has kids already and wants to convert and be with each other forever, they they go to the temple and get sealed. So, in other words, if a family that is sealed together comes across hard times and say for example, the mother dies, the family has the reassurance that they are sealed together and they will see her again after they die.

Mormons can date whomever they want, but are encouraged to date other members of the church. Dating can lead to marriage, and Mormons believe that if you marry in the temple, you can be sealed to your spouse for eternity. However, both individuals must be members of the church in order to be sealed in the temple. If you are willing to convert, why wait until marriage? If you have a testimony, join the church now, and then you don't have to worry about not being able to date Mormons because you will be one. :)
