There is two ways that it can freeze your game. One is you remove it from Slot1 (DSi and DSi XL slot).The other way is if you use a code for the wrong game. Releasing the buttons that triggered the freeze will unfreeze it. However if your game fell out you will have to start where you last saved.

Basically, The people that work in Pokemon made the newer version cheat proof. The only way you can get it, sadly, is with an action replace. That, or you can just find a friend who used action reply to get "?5" masterballs, and trade some Pokemon with him/her while they hold masterballs.
