Whether as a senator or as president, Mr. Obama has always shown respect for the flag, and there is no evidence that he ever was disrespectful towards it. You may be thinking of how, early in his political career, he did not wear a flag pin on his lapel. But this proves nothing: at that time, very few politicians wore a flag pin. Once it became a campaign issue, in 2007, he began to wear one.
