I'm guessing it is one of the safety sensors telling the car that it is over heating and shutting it down.. you could take it to a shop and they would run the codes on your computer and tell you if that is it or not.
Try checking the idle air control valve. It also may be the beginning of a failing catalytic converter.

also it might have a little lose of power when running but no signs of ever trying to stall when it is rolling just when its stopped in neutral.
If you have an automatic tranny, and the fluid is low, it may not gear down on the hills and may possibly stall. Check this out first.
