Stop by your local auto parts store and see if they have a repair manula for your chevy. Buy it and it should be in there and you will have it for future use.
I calculate almost every fill up and I get high 12 1/2 stop and go 1/2 highway :(

If you are having difficulty shifting out of 4wd, stop the vehicle and put in Neutral on the steering column. Now while depressing the brake, pull the 4wd shifter into neutral, then 2 W HI. Could be your lifters hitting the inside of your valve covers, it may only do this when it is cold and when it warms it will stop. You could try loosening the bolts on your vavle cover
