If it took you all this time to get the message as to how he felt (and you do know) then you were enjoying "the game" and didn't consider his feelings. If he liked you and you were interested in him then both of you should have gone out together and it doesn't matter which one of you asked the other out. He's tired of "the game" and is moving on. I am sure he thinks after all this time you don't care for him. Just think ... you could have really missed out on a nice guy. There is still time yet if you want to ask him out.
