A cheaper option for dual exhaust without making it a true dual exhaust from the exhaust manifold/headers. Not much performance gained just appearance.
GM just wanted to save money that's it. The only problem is the muffler poping (noise) when it gets hot or cooling off. cheap muffler from factory
That depends on which one you need to change, they have 4 of them. You have one on each down pipe and two connected side-by-side between the down pipes and the muffler.
it has 2 mufflers. the exhaust pipe splits into two pipes and the you got a muffler on each side of the car...
The tube under a car is two things: 1. The exhaust pipe comes from the engine to the muffler, and 2. The tail pipe goes from the muffler to the rear (usually) of the vehicle.
Old school we used dual pipes on for each side of the v-motors... now manufactures put dual tail pipes to control back pressure of the higher output smaller motors ... oh and dont forget the converters ...
Look in front of the motor, under muffler pipes, there you will find the starter motor.Take two mounting screws out and remove wire.
True answer here, there are Three (3) total O2 sensors. One on each of the two exhaust Y-pipes before the first of the two catalytic converters, one under the passenger floor and one under the drivers floor. Then one (1) O2 just after the second catalytic converter and just before the muffler.
Yes, that is the choice! And the question is ...
To remove the existing mufflers, first remove the saddlebags and loosen the clamp at the front of each muffler. Then remove the two bolts that hold the rear of each muffler to the saddlebag support. This will allow the mufflers to be removed by twisting them while pulling them from the head pipes. If they appear to be rusted to the head pipes and are hard to remove, spray some WD40 or other penetrating oil around the joint and let it soak in for a few minutes and try again. To install the OEM mufflers, first put some anti-sieze on the inside of the front ends of the mufflers to help ease them onto the head pipes and place new clamps on the forward end of each muffler. Use the same twisting motion to get them on. Reinstall the two rear support bolts on each muffler at the saddlebag supports and tighten the forward clamps then reinstall the saddlebags.
what are the two pipes in the throat called
It sits under the SUV where the two exhaust pipes connect into one. There are probably three, one where the two ehaust pipes connect into one and one before the cat. and one after the cat.
