Ok you happen to have the same problem as me... like you know the cone shapes part at the end, you try opening it. then you have to see if there is like a little piece of lead inside and try taking it out. or put long pieces of lead in the pencil like as many as it can take in , then try pressing the button.

First off, you should check to see if it is a mechanical pencil or not. If it a regular pencil the fix will be much easier. Just find a pencil sharpener, stick the pencil in, and hold it there until it's sharp. If you don't have a sharpener, you could go to any office supplies store and buy one (prices range from $2 to $172). If you don't have a car, and can't secure a ride there, then you should pull out a pocketknife and cut back the wood surrounding the lead. If all else fails, then break the pencil in half and get a new one. If it is a mechanical pencil, the only logical fix is to get a new pencil. You can find them in the same stores as the sharpeners.

Loop the string around the thumbtack and the pencil so that the distance from the tack to the pencil point is AB units. Fix the thumbtack to where you want the centre of the circle. Using the pencil, and with the string taut, mark its positions. These will lie on a circle with radius AB.
The shaving tray is likely broken. Pull the tray. Look at the face fits up against the pencil sharpener. Is there a 3/8" diameter rough circle about in the middle of that face? If so there used to be a rod attached at that point. You either need to disable the shaving tray placement interlock or find something smooth to replace the 1.5 inch long rod that broke off. We used a bit of brake line tubing. My husband tapped one end to accept a small bolt. He drilled out the rough hole on the tray. He put the bolt through the hole in the tray and screwed the brake line tubing piece on to the bolt. (If you try to go with a 3/8" bolt instead of smooth tubing - you won't be able to take the tray out again. Hope this helps.
