The ice water cools the glass down, meaning it is now cooler than room temperature. This causes the gases in the air to cool when they hit the glass. The gases then cool to become liquid leaving condensation (or mist as you have said) on the outside of the glass.

Water is funny stuff. its most dense point at mean sea level is 38F degrees, but it does not freeze until 32F. so if you take an ice cube and begin to remove heat from it, then the ice cube is expanding and it is leaving fissures all through the cube as it expands giving it a cloudy look, now take the same ice cube and stop removing heat from it (ex. set it on a counter) and watch, it will start to contract as the heat goes into it at some point the fissures will be back together and the ice cube will look less cloudy, as it starts to return to a liquid the cube be almost completely clear as the liquid is now filling in whats left of all those tiny cracks.

so cold water doesn't make cloudy cubes the simple act of freezing them does. There is however a tiny amount of air forced out of unboiled that causes some degree of cloudiness but it is rather inconsequential when compared to the cracks left by the expansion of the solid.

Maybe, the air around the cold glass of water which bumped to the glass of water became liquid because the temperature of the glass of water lowered down the air temperature transforming it to liquid. Was my hypothesis correct?

because the water is hotter than the ice, so it will melt over time. also, if the water is not hot enough, the sun(if there is any) might melt it.

the reson why water becomes cooler when ice is put in it is, ice is colder than water, so, if it was to be put in a drink, the ice would melt and the drink would become cooler.

What happens when warm water is poured into a beaker of ice cubes?

When warm water is added to coll water, the temperature of the combined fluid is warmer than that of the cool water and cooler than that of the warm water.

What causes ice cubes to melt?

Well, water can only be in it's solid form (ice) if the temperature is below the freezing point. The freezing point can vary slightly depending on the atmospheric pressure and minerals in the water, but this point is generally very close to 32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius. When an ice cube is removed from a cold environment (like your freezer) and placed in a warmer environment (like your cup of lemonade), heat begins to transfer from the environment to the ice cube. In other words, your drink becomes cooler because as the ice cube melts it absorbs energy from the water. Heat is transferred to the ice cubes until they are at the same temperature as their surroundings. The energy required to melt an ice cube is called the latent heat of fusion. It takes a pretty good amount of energy to freeze or melt water, and this large amount of energy is the reason that ice doesn't just instantly become water once it is no longer below the freezing temperature. The short answer is that heat causes ice cubes to melt.

Why do water droplets form on a lid when boiling water?

The lid is cooler than the steam (water vapor) produced by boiling the water. When the water vapor contacts that cooler surface, it condenses into liquid water.

Do ice cubes melt faster in water or soda?

depends!

What is less compact ice or water?

Ice. A give weight of frozen water will occupy a large volume than the same weight of liquid water.

Do melting ice cubes add to the amount of water?

The ice will melt to water and dilute whatever liquid it is in, so yes, your drink of whiskey will become weaker as this happens.

Why do ice cubes sink but when you drink the water they rise to the top?

Ice cubes don't sink in water, as the density of an ice cube is less than the density of water.

What is a water cooler?

A water cooler usually refers to a water dispenser that chills the water. Some people also refer to a water fountain (one of those things you drink water from in public buildings or parks) as a water cooler as well.

What happens if you put ice n a drink to cool it off?

The cold water molicules (or ice molicules) abosorb the heat of the drink and begin to move faster. however the drink is not warm enough for the drink to melt the ice cubes completely. the over all effect is that all of the molicules in the drink slow down thus becoming colder.

Why do drinks water down after a while what phase change is this?

That would happen if there are ice cubes in the drink, and the ice cubes melt. Why? Because the amount of water in the drink increases. The phase change is from solid to liquid; this is called melting. You can avoid the drink watering down by not letting the ice touch the drink directly: either put the drink in a larger container with ice, or put a plastic bag with ice cubes into the drink. However, this way it will probably take longer for the drink to cool down.

Why is ice cubes unpopular in Germany?

because Germans usually drink their water at room temperature

How do you keep a cooler colder remove the ice water or leave it in there?

Leave it in as with ice water you have more surface area covered by the cold then you would with just ice cubes

Why do ice cubes stick together at times?

A cold glass of water sometimes causes water vapour from the surrounding air to condense onto the surface of the glass. The same thing happens with ice cubes, but instead the water droplets condensing on the surface, they will instantly freeze and 'weld' ice cubes together. They also can stick together if put into a drink, where again, the water in the drink near the surface of the ice cube may get cold enough to freeze and cause the ice cubes to fuse together.

Do you need to boil the water before making the ice cubes?

This will depend on the source of your water. In most developed countries, it is not necessary to boil water before freezing it for ice cubes because the water is safe to drink. However, in developing countries that don't have consistent safe pathogen-free water, you should boil the water to kill any of the bacteria in it before freezing it into ice cubes.

When water is evaporated from a surface does the surface get cooler or hotter?

The surface become colder.

Why does ice cubes float in your drink but crushed ice sinks and blocks your straw?

Because ice is lighter than water
