The Pontiac Firebird was produced between 1967 and 2002. The car went through 4 generations in it's life time and was also related to the Firebird Trans Am.
The ignition switch is immediately behind and attached to the ignition lock cylinder. The ignition lock cylinder is where you place the key to start your vehicle. If you are haveing problems with your vehicle not starting and or turning the key, more than likely you need to replace the ignition lock cylinder. It is common for these to go bad in GM vehicles.
The question you ask is too involved for a proper answer. You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00

I had the same problem on my 1996 Pontiac firebird, they told me that my ignition cylinder had went out. Maybe you could ask about that, I don't know what would cause that to go out though? I had a similar problem 1998 Mystique LS. It was a burnt out relay. Also the ignition switch (what the key turns on...I'm not a mechanic I think that is what it was called) was worn and I had to replace switch.
Not sure what the symptoms are, but I am guessing you are referring to the anti-theft module. It is located in the ignition cylinder lock. It is common for this to go bad in the Grand Am and other GM products. Not sure what the symptoms are, but I am guessing you are referring to the anti-theft module. It would depend on the year for example a good condition but used 1997 firebird would go for about 7 to 8 thousand.
Give more info on what you have tried.. Go to question/answer # 19 on the Firebird faq's list, "If a 95 firebird starts right up..." Maybe this will help?!
My 1994 Trans Am does, it will go up to 110. I found out that the top speed of a 1994 Firebird or Trans Am is 156 mph.
Turn the ignition on in the car and hold down the trip reset button on the dash for about 10 seconds, the change oil light may blink a few times but then go out. All done!
