I had the same problem on my 1996 Pontiac firebird, they told me that my ignition cylinder had went out. Maybe you could ask about that, I don't know what would cause that to go out though?
I had a similar problem 1998 Mystique LS. It was a burnt out relay. Also the ignition switch (what the key turns on...I'm not a mechanic I think that is what it was called) was worn and I had to replace switch.
engine swapShort answer, no. Based on information from ADP Hollander. Edit:There should be no problem, provided that they were the same type, ie, two V6's or two I4's. I have the engine from a '96 Contour or Mystique in my 2000 Cougar with no problems, you wont even have to deal with the issue of return-vs-returnless fuel systems.
Wired incorrectly?
you probably need a new or overhauled transmission friend!
because it would be to hot to even if you were only on there for a few seconds
I have a 99 Ford Contour that doesn't have a tach. (even though its a stick) I think most of the contours don't. Some of the Mercury Mystique's do though. I don't know if it still has a wire, if it doesn't actually have a tach.
there is no correct way of monitoring a oil level without a dip stick my suggestion is go get another dip stick even if you have to buy a new one the price is less that replacing the engine
THE PLANET MERCURY IS THAT it is the closest to the sun. so if you were to take a pool the water would evaporate even before it toughed the ground.
No, even if glass and mercury expanded at the same rates, a common mercury thermometer would not be feasible because the volume of mercury would still change non-linearly with temperature due to its high thermal expansion coefficient. This would result in inaccurate temperature measurements.
it would be really hot
No, Mercury doesn't even have a atmosphere
No, Mercury barely even has an atmosphere.
honestly. Dont even attempt it, unless you have an engine hoist. Take it to a shop. its 170-220 labor. And save yourself an insane headache. I just attempted one and I've been working on cars for years..needless to say, its going elsewhere.
