Why are your fans turning on intermitently?
When I turn my AC on sometimes they come on and sometimes dont, causing it to overheat. I checked the fans by hotwiring from the battery and they turned on everytime.

They all should come with an AC adapter, but will also be able to be battery operated.

the ac could be related and if the battery light is on it means that your alternator is not charging properly which in turn could stop your ac from working due to lack of power I would change my alternator and see if that fixes your problem.

how come when we turn on ac the belts slow down. It takes horse power to operate the ac compressor and the vehicles ECM (engine control module) will compensate for that. If the vehicles charging system and ac system is in good working order it will not drain the battery or effect the idle.

My 1998 Intrigue did the same thing after battery was replaced. Found the answer online. Turn the AC and car off, disconnect the battery, wait 5 minutes, open both front doors, reconnect the battery, start car, turn on the AC full cold. This resets the computer and the AC works perfectly!
