I have nearly the same problem on a powerstroke 7.3 1997. the red dash light comes on during glowplug use, the voltage is 10.9 to 11 volts, It also comes on when running at higher engine revs, 1700 or thereabouts in the lower gears while the truck is run around the town (60 Klicks) the voltage is then reading about 14.4.i a ground has been added by a previous owner from the alternator to the body. I am going toadd a braided copper ground strap body to the frame and see if that will do anything

you may want to check the voltage regulator I do not know if the are still seprate from the alternators or not but it is worth a shot. The last Ford I had it was seprate.

I have not looked on my newer one yet.

Why would the battery light flicker on a 95 Sable when the tach is up to 3k and engine not fully warmed up?

Clean the battery cables and make sure the wires to the alternator are tight and without corrosion.

When 92 paseo is running and you give it gas it acts as though it is flooding and once car is warmed up it will kill as if it were not getting gas any thoughts?

Check the alternator if alternator goes out the car will run on just battery until charge runs out, which is very soon

Can an alternator that has a built in voltage regulator show good when the regulator is bad?

If the regulator is bad, the alternator would have a low charge or a high charge or no charge at all. With a good battery that is fully charged (12.68 volts) and the engine warmed up and idling with no accessories on, you should get a voltage reading at the battery of 14.2 v (plus or minus .2 v).

How can you charge your mobile using friction?

Taking the battery out of the phone and rubbing it back and forth against cloth. Although, you would think it would be the static charge from the friction that could help the battery work but its actually the heat generated from the friction. Because phone batteries work better when they are warmed.

Does keeping batteries in the freezer work?

We searched on "batteries freezer" and also looked at several battery manufacturer's web sites to find the answer to this question. The search results led to a very detailed frequently asked questions (FAQ) page about AA and AAA cell batteries, as well as its related battery myths page that provided a plethora of information about batteries. According to these sources, storing batteries in the freezer (or refrigerator) will make them last longer, but it depends on what kind of battery you're using. And in the long run, it may not be worth the hassle. For alkaline batteries (the most common kind of household battery), putting them in the freezer will extend their shelf life by less than 5%. And cold batteries can't be used immediately -- you have to wait until they've warmed up to room temperature first. If you need those batteries for a flashlight in an emergency, this could prove problematic. When stored at room temperature, alkaline batteries retain 90% of their power, and the average shelf life of alkaline batteries is five to seven years. For NiMH and Nicad batteries (often used for electronics), storing them in the freezer might be more practical. These kinds of batteries lose their charge after a few days when kept at room temperature. But they'll retain a 90% charge for months if you store them in the freezer. Just like alkaline batteries, you'll need to wait until they've warmed up before using them. However, this isn't a problem when you need new batteries for your digital camera or other electronic gadget. Battery manufacturers tend to agree. Kodak says "refrigeration is not necessary, nor is it recommended" and "freezing is not recommended" for its alkaline batteries. Duracell advises: "Do not refrigerate Duracell batteries. This will not make them last longer." Both recommend storing batteries in a cool, dry place.

1996 Grand Cherokee 6 cyc Will not idle when started cold Runs normally when warmed up Is it a bad sensor?

I took the vehicle to the dealer service department. It turns out the vehicle battery was not providing the correct voltage. Once the battery was replaced, vehicle is running properly again. In the future I will check battery condition / voltage first.

Had new battery put on but my car keeps cutting out?

maybe its not the batteries that are the problem with your car. maybe the oil needs changing. or maybe the car just needs to be warmed up so why don't you try turning on the car and letting it run for like 10 minutes or so.

Does putting batteries in the fridge keep them fresh?

When left unused, some batteries discharge quickly and some do not. This is true of both single use batteries and rechargeable batteries. Discharge is a chemical reaction and chemical reactions are slower at lower temperatures. Refrigerated batteries are stored at a lower temperature, so some types of batteries will keep their charge better if stored in a refrigerator. In addition to the chemical reactions that provide the voltage for battery function, there can be other reactions with the atmosphere that deteriorate the chemical composition of the battery. This can depend very much on the manufacture of the battery. If the battery is well made, then extraneous chemical reactions to battery materials from the air will be minimized by a well designed casing. While there does not seem to be much careful data on the subject, there are at least some reasons to support a benefit from refrigeration. Even so, variations in manufacturers is likely to have a significant effect as well.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1995 Plymouth Neon?

Best bet is to find a friend who can do it or get a 20 dollar Chiltons manual for the car. It's quite a hassle do to the placing of the alternator and other parts that are extremely close...note that I have done this repair and afterwards, after a few months the belt would squeal when cold until warmed up...retentioned the belt which lasted for about 1 month and now it squeals whenever too much power is drawn from the battery IE. the rear defrost, headlights, and high heat are on...this is with a brand new battery too!

Your 89 Bronco dies like its out of gas soon after its warmed up you have replaced the fuel filter and coil with no change any suggestions?

What could be the problem with my 1994 Mazda b2300 truck as it infrequently will not start even after I have replaced the fuel filter battery and ingnition solenoid?

Check the temp sensor on the thermostat goose neck. Mine got broken and when the truck warmed up it wouldn't start. Let it get cold and it would. about $25 at a parts store.
