If it has AC assist and the compressor is shot, cut the belt or disconnect the defrost from the compressor.
More than likely, your H-A/C control is set to Defrost. In most vehicles, when this is set to Defrost, the A/C Compressor runs continually.More than likely, your H-A/C control is set to Defrost. In most vehicles, when this is set to Defrost, the A/C Compressor runs continually.
If defrost is on it could be your compressor going bad. See what happens when you leave off defrost or disconnect your compressor. It only controls defrost and air conditioning. I had the same problem
The compressor is coming on because you have the heater set to defrost. Take it off defrost and the compressor will not come on. I would suspect the compressor is locked up.
Compressor will normally run when in defrost mode.
Tighten the belt. The belt drive the AC compressor. On some cars the compressor engages when the defrost is on to remove moisture from the air before it's heated for the defrosters.
Did you happen to move it to Defrost when you turned it off? The ac compressor also runs in the defrost cycle to keep the seals lubricated during the winter months when the ac is not used.
The A/C system compressor operates when in the defrost mode. If the noise is also heard when running the A?C it is more than likely a problem with the compressor/pulley.
YES. The A/C will cycle on and off when the heater is on defrost. That stops the A/C compressor from locking up during the winter months.
?
Yes, the ac will run in the defrost position to dry the windshield.
The a/c clutch will not engage and the compressor will not come on.............
