yes,beans will grow with/without soil..........you can put the bean with a cotton in a bottle and put it under the sun but you have to water it everyday.......
Well have you ever tried it before? If you have tried you'll find out it will not even grow one bit as seeds need water,air and warmth to grow. Its the same as leaving a seed on a window sill and waiting for it to grow.

it would grow faster in wet cotton than in wet soil soil , as cotton would retain adequate water for a longer period of time than soil .
