because the more southern states are closer to the equator, and the closer to the equator you get, the warmer it gets. it gets warmer near the equator because the earth's tilt has the sun's light/heat fall onto one place (the equator). the earth's tilt also gives us seasons.
No. Yes.While it has snowed in all 50 states at one time or another, including the mountains in Hawaii and the northern part of Florida, all 50 states have not had snow at the same time. On Feb 12, 2010 there was snow in all 50 states which may be the first time with snow in all 50 states at the same time.
I don't believe anybody is required to use snow tires. In fact, some states recommend that you don't use snow tires unless the conditions are bad due to the fact that they can damage/wear the roadways.
All states have gotten snow in the past and almost all receive snow somewhere at some point in the winter. Florida is probably the only state where it is relatively common for the entire state to go without snow in a winter. Even in Hawaii, the tops of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea routinely get a little bit of snow.
No. That is not possible because water, which becomes clouds then rain/snow, is not going to take up with them the purple colored molecules of some sort to make the snow purple. (Unless a Volcano has recently erupted and the ash mixed with the snow, resulting in a purple, gray snow.) I've only seen it happen once.
Only in the mountains above 10,000 feet.
Studded snow tires will have great traction but can tear up the road and so will only be available in some states.
Not all mountains have snow caps. Some mountains in the southwestern United States do not have snow caps very often.

Hawaii gets the least, with snow only occurring above 7-8 thousand feet, which is only a couple peaks. Otherwise, snow is least common on the California coast and the Gulf coast.
Many of the deserts in the United States may receive some snow in the winter, which quickly disappears. The Great Basin probably receives the most snow each year.

Depending on where you live, it can also snow in Autumn and Spring. Snow only happens when it is cold enough - and that usually only happens in Winter.
