For exactly the reason stated. The Catholics have a "version of truth" (with a lower case "t"), and their vision of God and of Jesus Christ, their interpretation of scripture and their steadfast belief in the handing down of the authority of the Church in an unbroken line from the time that Christ established it is flawed and theologically fatal. People either chose to or, more probably, are inspired by God to believe that the Catholics do not own the truth (again with the small "t") of the mysteries of life and the afterlife nor the truth of the Word. Neither do they own the truth of Man's true nature and of his Divine origin, of the nature of the kinship of God and Man and of the mind and personality of the Son and of the Father. It turns out that God has spoken directly to them, to their hearts, and revealed the Truth to them, and it isn't Catholic flavored. Religion isn't about picking a "viable" system of worship or belief like one would choose the "best candidate" in electing a person to serve in public office. The wonder and the Truth is that God speaks directly to each and every one of us. Directly to our hearts. In all languages. In all times. And in His way. We only need listen.
