could be a bad sensor a bad gauge or a broken or disconnected wire
1993 chevy 4.3 v6 1500 truck temp gauge inoperative,
NO they are not the same.
what should my dash gauge read for normal opp temp on my 97 Chevy 5.7 liter vortec
That light notifies you that one of the gauges is out of its normal parameter. Check the temp (overheating), the voltage (not charging) and the oil pressure gauge (low or no oil pressure).
It is on the driver side head of the engine.
We replaced the temperature gauge in my 1991 Chevy blazer what is the normal operating temp?
To fix the temp gauge check the temp sending unit first. A bad sending unit is a common problem with the temp system.
I am answering my own question for others incase this happens to them. It was the temperature gauge for the computer (not the dash), but the plugs I had put in the first time fouled out and had to be replaced again when we putin the temp. gauge. truck runs great now. thanks anyway :)
If the temp gauge no longer works then either the gauge itself has failed, the sending unit has failed, or there is a problem in the circuitry.
THE temp sending unit 4 the inside gauge usally has 1 wire & the sending unit 4 the Computer has 2 wires.
It goes to the temp gauge which is usually screwed in the head between the manifold on the drivers side, or into the thermost housing on the intake manifold.
bad temp sender usually. Bad gauge rarely.
