If it runs even with the car shut off it is probably a bad switch. If it runs all the time with the engine running it is probably a bad temp sensor.

I have been working on rangers for a long time. the only ones that will fit should be 98 to 2001. ford changed mostly everything on these trucks. 2002 and 2003 parts will interchange but that's it.

Where the lower hose connects into the engine block. I believe it is a dealer only item. ie, can't buy from Napa or Carquest. Last time I checked, it cost around @$150.

timing is computer controlled. You don't need to do any timing.
Not sure what it is, mine is doing the same thing it sounds like. I am getting a whistling noise from the front right of the engine most all the time now, if i rev the engine.
