I would thinh you have a leaking plenum gasket thus allowing extra oxygen into the fuel air mixture leanig it out and making rpm's go up.
You have to replace the hazard/turn signal switch located in the center of the dash. Oldsmobile issued a recall for this part in 2004. If it has not been replaced, the dealer will do it for free. If it has been replaced, and failed again (like mine has) you are on your own. Call a dealer to see if it has been replaced yet.
It would depend greatly on how your driving it, highway/in town. But if you care to now for your own personal preference, carry a jerry can with some extra gas in it. Then if you happen to depend on that little bit of extra gas, you'll know about how far it can carry you.
Oldsmobile was a brand of vehicles built by GM. They are no longer build. I own a 1984 Cutlass Supreme in beautiful condition.

No. it was approved for production for the 03 model year however right before production is when GM told Olds that they were going under. All the OSV's were crushed besides a red OSV Alero and the OSV Silhouette which both sold and Barret Jackson and their locations are unknown currently, however they both have titles to where they cannot be driven on the street, therefore they are sitting in a private collectors garage unknown everyone else. Before the others were crushed they were picked of many parts such as wheel, brake, and suspension setups. and many took very detailed photos so they could make their own reproductions. It sounds like the timing is set too high and needs to be lowered...
Adjust the bolt atached to the throttle arm at the throttle body. It touches the dashpot. BTW I am answering my own question.
You might try checking you idle air control valve.
