Why does my Briggs and Stratton 3.5 HP lawn mower engine run for 2-3 seconds and then quit It starts again when primed but will continue to stop?

Sounds like that diaphragm between the tank and carburetor to me...pull tank/carb assembly from the mower, then remove the carburetor from the tank. whats in-between is the gasket/diaphragm(be sure to remove all the old material before installing the new one) that pumps the fuel up to the carburetor and into the engine. The diaphragm only cost like 2 bucks and you can change it in like 5-10 mins. Dont waste the money on taking it to a shop, as long as you have the tools to do it....
