I have a mutant CD player, Sony xplod 800w subwoofer and a SPLX 800 amplifier. These are all connected, I have power and ground connected, the lights are lit up on the amplifier. Also the subwoofer has "life", I can hear when it turns on and off, but no sound is played through it when I put music on.
Is this a problem with the CD player headunit or the connection from that to the amp? Thanks!
While a good receiver is important, the subwoofer is really in control of sound quality.

The Legacy subwoofer comes in an oak enclosure for very solid sound.
The Legacy subwoofer doesn't light up, but does have excellent sound and isn't muddy.
It all depends on what kind of subwoofer you have , size , power and so forth . They have many different variations so it is impossible to tell the exact range of sound .
Yes but it wont sound right.
A subwoofer is a specific type of speaker. Traditionally, they produce very low frequency sound, and is used to experience the full range of sounds from the music source.
The subwoofer will sound like crap.
You can typically install the subwoofer in the trunk of your car, and position it accordingly to get the sound you want. You can direct it towards the interior of the seat but do not keep it too close to the seat as you might damage the subwoofer. The Legacy subwoofer gives great output for the money, but if yo're looking for the best sound, consider the Pioneer flagship subwoofers.
The job of a subwoofer in the music of a car is to provide bass. Subwoofers are designed to carry the lowest frequencies.Subwoofers are need to make you music sound better, so you wont hear a lot of rumbling in the speakers and what not.
