Could be a crack head gasket, white smoke is not good, could be radiator fluid getting onto your heads, burning off creating the white smoke, that is what happened to my altima it cost right at $1k
if there is backfire, check the exhaust restriction....
corsa 1.5 diesel lumpy at start up with white smoke from exhaust returning to normal after a couple of minuets
White smoke especially when starting tends to indicate that water is finding its way into the the exhaust system, where it is boiling and exiting the exhaust as steam. The possible cause could be water getting into the cylinders (perhaps from a damaged gasket).
White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.
Start your engine and look at the exhaust. If there is a lot of white smoke coming out, you have water in your gas. You can also place an empty cup in the stream of the exhaust. If water droplets appear in the glass, you have water in your gas.
possible blown head gasket. I don't get white smoke from my exhaust! is it from yours? If it is just after you start your car it is normal.
oil leaked past the rings and into the cylinder, when you started your vehicle, that oil burned off
My understanding of exhaust smoke is that Blue is oil, Black is unburnt fuel, White is unburnt diesel on cold start. The main question would be, how much smoke and when does it do it?
If white smoke is coming out of the exhaust when the engine is warmed up , it sounds like engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder
Is the smoke coming out the exhaust pipe or from under the car? If its coming from under the car there could be something like oil getting on it. If its coming out the exhaust pipe you have engine problems and you should first check the oil level on the dip stick before your next oil change to see how bad its using oil.
oil burning . Condensation.
Oil return lines from head may be partially plugged and oil runs down into cylinder over night - it is burned on start-up
