If you are pregnant, sleeping on your sides or in various positions "squishes" alot of your organs especially the bladder. That may be the case. Try drinking more water because many pregnant women do not drink enough water due to the constant need to use the restroom.

For non-pregnant people, your kidneys hurting mildly can be ignored for the most part. Try drinking more water. However if you had a urinary tract infection (UTI) in the past, then a kidney pain can mean that the infection traveled up into the upper urinary tract and probably to the kidneys - which means its serious! Kidney pain can also indicate kidney stones.

You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you experience more pain or stabbing painful sensations.
