Do you leave the pump on all the time on a fish pond?
I run my pump in both my fountain and my pond at least once a day to insure the mosquitos don't have a chance to lay and hatch eggs. I also refresh my bird baths daily if it doesn't rain for the same reason. It is not necessary to run it all the time. Be sure to use a ground fault outlet to avoid serious accidents to you or your pets.

But if you donate 200,000 bells to the town fund and get a bridge, and then donate 500,000 coins to the town fund you will get a fountain. Once you get the fountain, you can go to it at night and there is a fountain spirit. You have to answer all of her questions correctly or she won't give you a golden axe. Please note that you MUST already have the bridge in order to get the fountain, and don't donate the money for the fountain and the bridge at the same time or it will waste it ALL on the bridge and you will lose a lot of money.
