First thing to do is to check your oil. If it is overfull your carb is probably sticking and leaking gas into the block. This is a common problem and can easily be taken care of with a carb cleaning and an oil change.
If it is not overfull, then there is one other cheap possibility. You could have a clogged breather. It is behind the carb bolted to the side of the block with a tube going to the carb. If it is clogged it will cause extra pressure in the engine and cause oil to blow by the valves.
If it is not one of these two things then it is probably more serious and will take some small engine rebuilding.
