I'm not sure about other Protozoans but Paramecium, a freshwater ciliate, pumps out excess water with it's Contractile Vacuoles.
more than likely it is the water pump gasket,it probably has a tear in it or just dry rotted from age and use or if it is leaking out of the water pump itself it is the seal inside the water pump itself if this is the case the water pump must be replaced if it is the gasket just replace the gasket ...
If referring to an outboard engine, running the motor without water supplied will ruin a water pump in less than 60 seconds. Never dry run a marine engine.
A Paramecium has a plasma membrane that is much less permeable to water than other membranes of most cells. The Paramecium cell is also equipped with a contractile vacuole, an organelle that functions to force water out of the cell as fast as it enters by osmosis. -AP Biology Student
What about it? Remove the fan shroud, remove the fan itself, unbolt the water pump.
Contractile proteins are found in what?
The hot water is probably water running through the pump and recirculating in the sump. Is the pump running continually? Water that isn't ejected by the pump and is recirculated is being heated by the pump through friction and the motor heat energy thereby becoming hot. Find out why the pump isn't shutting off or the reason the water isn't being ejected out the pipe.
Runs continually as long as the engine is running.
When it fails. There is no proscribed interval for vehicular water pump replacement. On many, if not most, vehicles the water pump lasts longer than the usable life of the vehicle itself.
Generally, no. There are air-cooled engines that don't have a water pump, but if the car was supposed to have one, it needs it. The engine will overheat and destroy itself within minutes if it runs without a water pump.
To remove the water pump, first drain the cooling system and disconnect the following items: the negative battery cable, air cleaner assembly, heat shield for the exhaust manifold, feed pipe for the water pump. Then install a water pump holding tool. Remove the retaining bolts and then the water pump itself.
