Serpentine belt has stretched and needs replacing or the tensioner is defective or both.
no the serpentine belt is totally separate from timing belt
if you alternator was locked up .it caused it to jump time. my car done the same thing last week ,now i have to re time it.
That seems suspiciously like a bent pulley. If any of the pulleys or idlers on the serpentine belt are not running "true" it may vibrate severely and cause the belt to jump.
I'm not sure if Dodge made a Caravan in 77 but if you have a later one, open the hood and check to make sure that the cowl water drain hose is inserted properly. If that drain hose is dissconnected water runoff will dump directly on to the serpentine belt and cause it to jump off. Think about it, was it raining when the belt jumped? That drove me nuts, been there, done that.
Why would a timing belt jump time and cause damage to the cylinder heads ?
Jump - 1999 is rated/received certificates of: USA:R
sometimes and it has a belt
Ultra Jump was created in 1999.
The timing belt can only jump time if there is a failed component in the timing belt system. Check the pulleys and tensioner.
Belt is stretched or the tension pulley
Timing belt. misfiring engine
No. A worn timing chain or belt would cause timing to jump.
