what size belt do i need with a murray riding lawn mower that is a 12.5hp. 40"
According to Youtube
I changed the blade belt on my Murray mower. Now one blade stops and goes. If I lower the deck the blade stop . What did I do wrong?
To install the main drive belt on a Murray riding mower, first ensure the mower is turned off and the key is removed for safety. Remove the mower deck by disconnecting the belt and any necessary bolts. Next, route the new drive belt around the engine pulley and axle pulley, following the mower's belt routing diagram, which is usually found on the mower's frame. Finally, reattach the deck and check the tension on the belt before starting the mower.
To determine the exact size of the belt for your Murray riding lawn mower, you will need to refer to the owner's manual or check the model number of your mower. The belt size can vary based on the specific model and year of manufacture. You can also contact a Murray dealer or parts supplier with your model number for accurate sizing information.
To install a belt on a 42'' Murray mowing deck, first, ensure the mower is turned off and disconnected from the power source. Remove the deck from the mower by detaching the pins or bolts securing it. Once the deck is removed, locate the old belt and note its routing; then, remove it from the pulleys. Install the new belt by following the same path as the old one, ensuring it sits properly in the pulleys, and reassemble the deck back onto the mower.
Your belt could either be worn out and stretched, or the idler pulley bracket could have vibrated loose. I just tweaked the braket on mine, tightened it down and now I'm back to mowing. Hope this helps

We will need some more details... Is it the drive belt or the belt for the blades?it is the drive belt for Murray lawn mower model 38618x92a
The idler pulley is located just in front of and to the left of the right-side mower pulley. It's mounted on a bracket which has a long spring attached from it to the front of the mower deck. You can see a good diagram of this at www.partsandservice.com/html/Murray/lt/lt42910x92a.html and click on "mower housing". The belt is Murray part # 37X75 which translates to 1/2" wide by 91.25" around. Any larger mower shop would have this or an aftermarket equivilant.
