In absence of water, bacteria can not decompose the body of shrimp. So they are dried in sun light, in tropical countries, to preserve them for eating. They will not decompose, once you keep them in ice compartment of your fridge. Because enzymatic activity can not go on in ice. Enzymes can not move in solid ice. So dead body can remain without decomposing for thousands of years, in the ice on top of Himalayas.
